Celebrity Shoes: Jessica Chastain wears Gucci dragon boots

Jessica Chastain is one of favorite Hollywood stars and she never disappoint when it comes to arriving on red carpet events all glamorous and never missing a fashion point. She is known for her classy with a hint of edgy style but not as edgy as her look at the Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon. She paired her little black dress with those bespoke Gucci dragon boots. Gasp!

This Gucci dragon boot features embroidered dragon on green silk upper. Its block heel measures 3 inches with crystal embellishment for extra luxurious appeal.

Celebrity Shoes: Kendall Jenner wears flame design sandals

Kylie Jenner's 21st birthday was star-studded and her sisters are in attendance despite the recent tweet war between Kim, Kourtney and Khloe and the dog-biting controversy of Kendall. While Kim, Kourtney and the birthday girl chose to wear pinks and purples, Kendall opted to wear a strapless leather mini dress that she accessorized with oversize Prada envelope clutch and sandals with flame design to signify that her look is hot.

This Prada "Flame" sandal has been around since 2011 for the brand's SS 2012 collection. It is made of patent leather and features the ubiquitous flames on the ankle and wedge heel inspired by the decals of muscle cars of the 50's. While this design comes in a variety of colors, this black version is available at Farfetch for $1,100.

Celebrity Shoes: Jennifer Lopez wears Versace thigh-high denim boots

Always count on Jennifer Lopez to give us something to talk about whether it is about her love life, her career or her fashion choices and we are more amused about the latter. While out in Manhattan, J. Lo was seen wearing an oversize button down white shirt and Versace slouchy thigh high denim boots that looks like a pair of pants complete with belt and pockets (gasp!). Her look actually borderlines f-a-s-h-i-o-n and tacky but we're voting as fashionable just because she is Jenny from the Block. Her large sunglasses, hoop earrings and stacked bracelet (not to mention her Hermes Birkin bag) completed her homage to the 90's look. Is it a yay or nay?

Celebrity Shoes: Bella Hadid wears Yeezy transparent sandals

A goddess in gold Versace gown, Bella Hadid made heads turn during the Bvlgari dinner in Rome. She looks every inch sophisticated, from her straight hair, her million dollar necklace and earrings and those rarely seen smile. She completed her look with Yeezy transparent sandals to accentuate her already mile-long supermodel legs.

This transparent sandal with PVC heel is from Yeezy Season 6 collection. It sells for $840 at Forward.

Christian Louboutin "Space Odd" studded clear pump

Christian Louboutin "Space Odd" pump, $1,195.
Plastic heels or plex heels were a big thing in shoes in 2010 when I started this blog and it is interesting to know that it is making a comeback. It is perhaps popularized again by Kim Kardashian who often wears transparent shoes from her husband's Yeezy collection. Naturally, big labels would want to capitalize on the idea that plastics are in so they come up with designs that may or may not suit your taste. An example of designer brands is Christian Louboutin who released this "Space Odd" pump with studs on the clear upper. I honestly don't know how to make of it.

Celebrity Shoes: Olivia Culpo wears Dolce & Gabbana sandals

Olivia Culpo wears Dolce & Gabbana dress and sandals at the brand's Light Blue Italian Zest Launch in L.A.

This Dolce & Gabbana "Bette" sandal features a black T-bar strap that contrasts the metallic gold multi-strap front and ankle. The sculpted heart heel provides a unique touch to the delicate design. This sandal is from the brand's SS18 collection. It is available at Farfetch and Moda Operandi.

Celebrity Shoes: Blake Lively wears custom Christian Louboutin embellished sandals at the Met Gala

Yesterday's Met Gala was so spectacular that it's hard to make a best dressed list. Everyone who attended lived up to our expectation of their own interpretation of Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination. One of the celebrities who graced the event was Blake Lively who wore a stunning Versace gown with dramatic train which took more than 600 hours to make. To complete her look, Lorraine Schwartz made a gorgeous headpiece with 100 diamonds while Christian Louboutin made a custom sandals to match.

"I wanted to design a delicate armor for her feet with crocodile and stones. A feminine warrior with a gold tassel for a religious wink," Christian Louboutin said about her inspiration for the footwear.

Every angle of the sandal complements the elements of her Versace gown. It's hard to see her shoes during the Met Gala but we were able to take a glimpse of it when she briefly posed for the pictures.

The tassel in the back adds opulence to the already intricate design. It reminds us of the high windows of churches of the medieval times and the rope belts of monks.

Crazy Heel: Jacquemus slingback pumps

I stumbled upon this Jacquemus slingback pump with geometric heel and it reminds me of the years past, the Mod squad and Geometry. It's not unusual these days to see a shoe with unique, albeit crazy, heels because there are tons of it available in the market. This particular design is from the French label's Spring 2018 collection inspired by Picasso's paintings. This is available at Net-A-Porter for $670.

Just recently, Selena Gomez was seen wearing a mismatched Jacquemus beige sandals.

We've seen celebrities wear mismatched shoes before but they went as far as mismatched placement of embellishments. Would you go as far as Selena and wear mismatched crazy heels?

Hell No: Thigh High UGG Boots For Men

I am lost for words. Uggs are comfortable and has been around for so many years that even though they are not quite pleasing to look at in terms of fashion, we forgive them because we must choose comfort over style especially during the unforgivable cold season. That doesn't mean Ugg must go crazy and make their signature boots thigh-high for men, though. These boots first appeared on the runway of Y/Project during the A/W Paris Fashion Week because it's fashion. But not for everyone. What do you think?

Celebrity Shoes: Mel B in DSquared2 charm embellished sandals

Melanie Brown or Mel B. is known as Scary Spice in her years with the iconic Spice Girls. Her style back then is known to be risky and sometimes over the top and post-Spice Girls hype, she still exudes that character but with modern touches. For the photocall of America's Got Talent in LA, she obviously lost weight post her divorce drama.. While her svelte body is not to be missed, it is her DSquared2 embellished sandals that made the buzz.

This statement sandal has 130mm gold tone heel and pink ribbon lace-up embellished with enameled gold tone charms of cross, eye and heart. It is currently on sale for $1,27 previously $1,609 here.

Celebrity Shoes: Lil Kim and Rita Ora in DSquared2 "Glam Biker" boots

Lil Kim and Rita Ora both wear an identical jacket and surprisingly, they also wear the DSquared2 "Glam Biker" boots with lace that go high up the knee. Lil Kim's white version of the boots made a statement when she performed on stage but Rita wore her yellow version while out and about in the streets.

This bad ass boots has 4-inch heels, open toe front and zip-up back so you don't have to worry about lacing up. You can have this for $667.50 previously $1,335 here.

Celebrity Shoes: Kim Kardashian and Rihanna in Vetements x Manolo Blahnik boots

Only Kim Kardashian and Rihanna can pull-off those waist high boots by Vetements x Manolo Blahnik. In fact, I included these boots in the craziest designer shoes to date. The two fashion risk takers styled the boots with coats, their approach differ--Kim opted an all black ensemble while Rihanna chose to fold the other leg and tamed the tangerine hue by wearing shorts and black cropped tank. Who styled it best?

Dolce & Gabbana Climbing Rose Sandals

The first time I saw this Dolce & Gabbana sandals, I immediately thought of Beauty and the Beast. It is my favorite Disney movie because it was the first movie I watched in our new VHS player many years ago. I especially love the first time Belle and Beast danced while Mrs. Potts sang.

Have you seen the movie? I haven't. Am I the only one? I have seen the trailer and the casts' interviews and they are great, but the long queues turn me off. I am a bad Disney fan, I know, but I still have a few days to watch it in the theater.

Back to the shoe... this "Climbing Rose" sandals is so pretty to look at. The red silk rose the climbs the heel (hence, the name) is an absolute conversation starter. I can see myself wearing it with a formal tea-length dress or cropped slim pants to show off its stunning heel.

If you still have the Belle Fever, you can but this strappy sandals for $1,395 here.

The Craziest Designer Shoes

It has been a while since I posted about shoes that are on the crazy side but are on the market for the small margin of customers who are giddy about extraordinary shoe designs. Those shoes do not come cheap, though, because most of them are designed and produced by established brands and they are launched on the runway. Take a look at some of the daring shoe designs so far.

Dolce & Gabbana "Carretto Siciliano" printed pumps, $4,995.
This Dolce & Gabbana pump is actually fun to look at. It reminds me of fiestas, carnivals and pizzas. The crazy thing about it is the heel in the shape of a woman who looks like a queen because of the embellished heel atop her head.

Gucci "Queer Core' embellished pumps, $2,390.
This lady debuted on the Resort 2017 runway. It also comes in black, light blue and white. What's crazy about this shoe is that it is a brogue with buckled toe, crystal embellished heel and the three straps that go up above the ankle. It actually looks like a 4-in-1 shoe--pumps, brogues, sandals and boots.

Balmain "Constance" suede pump, $1,585.

The only crazy thing about this Balmain pump is the exaggerated tongue that creates an illusion of a boots if you look at it in front. It also comes in all black suede. It's Balmain and I bet Kim Kardashian-West won't mind owning one.

Aquazzura "Voodoo" sandals, $1,950.
So, this Aquazzura sandals is tribal inspired. Tassels and beads are recurring embellishments on shoes in the past few years but when added with feathers to tickle your legs, that's something.

Tom Ford buckled strap sandals, $1,790.
Unstable heel? Check! Multiple buckles? Check! Crazy! But in all honesty, I would love to try this on.

Vetements + Manolo Blahnik satin boots, $4,225.
This is what Rihanna and Kim Kardashian-West wore a few days ago. Riri wore the bright orange version while Kim had it in black. The crazy feature of this boots is that it goes way up to the hips--the waist, almost, if you are petite. This design collaboration is from the Spring 2017 collection.

Chanel tweed sneaker boots, $895.
This shoe has an identity crisis. Period.

Shoe Suggestions for Janelle Monae

Janelle Monae looks fabulous in that intricately beaded Zuhair Murad dress but I don't think her boots are. It just doesn't quite fit in to the whole ensemble. I have picked quite a few quirky alternatives to make her stand out even more.

Kurt Geiger lace pumps, $104.

Vetements + Manolo Blahnik satin pumps, $1,775.

Christian Louboutin "Louloudancing" sandals, $995.

Dolce & Gabbana "Keira" sandals, $1,995.

Celebrity Shoes: Ciara in Monika Chiang rope sandals

Sometimes, no matter how good things are, they shouldn't be together. That is the case with Ciara's Julea Demani off shoulder dress that is so gorgeous during the Miss America 2017 pageant in Atlantic City, New Jersey. I don't have enough good words to describe it but that she paired with Monika Chiang rope sandals that is also drool worthy. Both are exceptionally awesome but I think they should be worn separately so that each could shine on their respective attributes.

By the way, you can buy the rope sandals here for $695. It has 4.3-inch heels and also comes in three different colors--sand, blue and army green.

Celebrity Shoes: Kim Kardashian ni transparent thigh high boots

It's summer but Kim Kardashian didn't check the weather or perhaps she's just trying to make a statement like she always does. While out and about in NYC, she was seen wearing denim jacket and shorts over a completely sheer bra that shows her nipples and transparent thigh high boots. Turns out, she's promoting the boots for the upcoming collection of Yeezy, her husband's fashion line. Still, we'd rather wear it as we brave the rain and flood. How does she walk in them? Does her feet become sweaty? Oh, there are so many questions!

I think this is more wearable:

Gucci 'Princetown' mule

This is a mule.

With a horse bit detail.

Not a mule mule. It is a slipper made of dyed lamb fur.

It also looks like a sad furry dog, a wind blown hair of Donald Trump, a wig... the possibilities are endless!

Image from polyvore.com

The mule is from the label's Fall 2015 collection. Wear it inside your house, preferably, because you don't want to mess up the fur with mud and dirt.

Get it at neimanmarcus.com for $1,800.

Jimmy Choo "Cinderella" pumps

Finally, one designer had the guts to name a shoe after a Disney princess who is well-known for her glass slippers. After years of quest to finding and self-claiming Cinderella worthy shoes, I can finally say that this Jimmy Choo "Cinderella" 100mm crystal embellished pump ends it... for now.

Who wouldn't be amazed at how intricately those 7,000 Swarovski crystals are attached to the leather upper. And the huge crystal cluster design is beyond spectacular. If I may own this, I will just let it sit in my living room.
