Cutout suede and velvet sandals, $1380 at Net-A-Porter. |
Pierre Hardy has been in the shoe industry since 1988 under the fashion house of Christian Dior. He also designed shoes for Hermes. In 2001, Nicholas Gheshquiere, the creative director of Balenciaga, asked him to design innovative and striking footwear--hence, the birth of the 'Lego shoes'--the $4000+ sandals that Beyonce wore during her performance in the American Music Awards in 2007.
Pierre Hardy's winter collection is all about color-blocking and geometry. The combination of the two is like taking you to the 50s and yet bringing you to the future... no loud colors, just the basic colors in all their glory.
